Seamless travel, passenger processing and identity verification! These are three key themes that will be at the forefront of Passenger Terminal Expo 2025 in IFEMA, Madrid from April 8th– 10th. I’m excited to be visiting for the first time! So please, get ready to take off with me as we explore the elements of the event that I’m intrigued about taking part in.
One of the most interesting aspects of the event is the sheer size, scale and number of industry leaders and experts that will be attending. With 10,000+ visitors, 350+ exhibitors and 450+ speakers; this is a fantastic opportunity for me; a new analyst working within the airports and borders team, to truly understand from a first-hand view just how big the industry is, and how many stakeholders influence and innovate the travel experience in airports.
During the event, I’ll have the chance to try out and witness the solutions that I’ve been covering in our Smart Airports Tracker since November, and some products that are set to be debuted at the event. I’m interested in seeing SITA’s Smart Path product suite and Thales’s Fly2Gate solution, as seamless end-to-end airport solutions are one of the most intriguing recent airport developments that I’ve researched and understood to date, while I’m also eager to see the unveiling of Ink Innovation’s ‘Zero concept’, the next generation of devices and apps aimed at streamlining the airport experience with the use of smaller, smarter and simpler hardware’.
In addition to demoing new products, the chance to network and converse with industry leaders and experts from around the world is an invaluable opportunity. The possibility of building relationships, exploring potential collaborations and discussing the current state of the industry, alongside identifying key trends/developments that look to shape the future of passenger processing in airports is imperative in allowing us to paint the most accurate picture of the market and its players as possible in our works. This includes the ‘Smart Airports Tracker’ and research reports such as ‘The Seamless Passenger Journey in Smart Airports 2025’ and the upcoming ‘Smart Borders 2025: The Future Evolution of Land, Air and Sea Borders’.
I’m looking forward to conversations with Thales, IDEMIA, Amadeus, Collins and Magnetic, amongst other solution providers across the event! It will be interesting to see IN Groupe’s Fly’IN solution, I’d love to understand the solutions behind it, while also hopefully gaining more insight into the recent acquisition of CCM by SITA. Additionally, it will be great to learn more about some of iProov’s significant contract wins with large border agencies and how they plan to future proof border control processes. Also, we are looking forward to hearing any updates regarding IN Groupe’s negotiations with IDEMIA into the potential acquisition of IDEMIA’s Smart Identity division.
In conclusion, while it may sound trivial, I’m looking forward to the experience, this will be my first time appearing at an industry event, so everything is new! The hustle and bustle of the event, the opportunities to share knowledge or discuss avenues for collaboration and the chance to build long-standing working relationships is truly intriguing. Ultimately, I’m excited to be representing Valour Consultancy alongside airports and borders director, John Devlin.
