Key Headlines
- As of February 2024, we have collected 33,160 vessels actively using GEO/MEO VSAT; an increase of ~2,000 vessels from the last quarter in 2024. The sample captured an estimated $1.5 billion of LEO, MEO and GEO VSAT revenues on an annual basis.
- Fascinatingly, we also aggregated more than 24,400 vessels using Starlink’s LEO services, with nearly 12,000 vessels using Starlink direct.
- Annualising those Starlink Maritime vessels over a 12-month basis, we believe Starlink Maritime, via its resellers, generates more than $650 million per year as of today.
- Valour Consultancy believes the tanker, container and ocean cruise passenger vessel categories were the two biggest revenue generators for commercial maritime satellite services. Marlink and Speedcast were the two biggest resellers of Starlink Maritime.
- Examining the GEO VSAT segment, Marlink, Inmarsat Solutions and KVH held the top three positions accounting for total commercial vessels collected in the sample.
- Eutelsat OneWeb had nearly 1,000 vessels on its LEO services via its reseller partners.
