Valour Consultancy is pleased to announce its new report: ‘The Future of Maritime Digitalisation – 2025’. The term digitalisation is widely used and often refers broadly to the maritime industry’s progression into the digital age. Nevertheless, for the purposes of this report, it was essential to maintain a tight and focused scope. Specifically, this work concentrates on IT and crew services – examining IT management solutions, the spread of cloud services, email, live CCTV, crew entertainment as well as smart boxes/ network management. It also includes commentary on other prevalent digital technologies such as telemedicine and fleet management solutions.
Key players shaping this space include KVH, Bazeport IPTV, Marlink, and Speedcast in crew entertainment; Microsoft, Navarino, GTMaritime, and MarPoint in IT services; Videosoft Global and M2INTELLIGENCE in live CCTV; and leading connectivity providers such as Marlink, Inmarsat Maritime, Speedcast, and Quvia through smart boxes and traffic management solutions.
According to our report’s author, Alishia Sims: “The research for this report has been fascinating. If I had to highlight two areas, they would be the spread of cloud services, and the reasons companies choose to outsource their IT.
Cloud services, in particular, stood out. To better understand their role in the industry, I divided them into two categories: cloud infrastructure and storage services (such as AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and SharePoint) as well as cloud applications. This distinction provided a valuable lens through which to assess the maritime’s industry’s overall cloud maturity.
Discussions with IT managers further highlighted the significance of this topic, with shipping companies actively planning and developing their cloud strategies for the coming years.”
Alishia then turned her thoughts to the prevalent companies discussed within the report.
“Another interesting finding was that OneNet, part of the Fameline Holding Group, has secured a strong position in the market, thanks to its strategic emphasis on IT services as a core offering alongside its connectivity business. The company has been successful in selling beyond its existing connectivity customer base.”
The data reveals further compelling trends, particularly the increasing adoption of digital solutions across the maritime industry. Valour Consultancy estimates the commercial revenue of digital services included in the report’s scope reached over $550 million at the end of 2024.
