Report Title: The Digitisation of Travel Authorisations, Credentials & Visas
More governments and border agencies are adopting new digital processes to more effectively track those crossing their borders. This starts with the submission and collation of personal data in advance of travel for electronic travel authorisations (ETAs), and with the move from in-person to online eVisa applications to enter a country.
These changes can significantly improve efficiency and security, providing greater insight for authorities and enabling them to make better decisions whilst offering travellers a more convenient process.
Such modernisation requires planning and coordination across multiple departments, with many changes to be accommodated. However, a number of countries are introducing or evaluating systems with remote, digital identity verification; a key component ahead of the next phase of border control evolution: the advent of digital travel credentials (DTCs).
This report identifies the timeline for completion and categorises countries by readiness to move ahead with these digital border and travel processes.
